The Maw: What’s new in PC gaming this week?

Happy Monday everyone! Yes, I wrote that in all sincerity. We all deserve a happy Monday – maybe video games can help with that. As you might expect, Elden Ring’s recently released Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC remains this week’s big kahuna, and there are no obvious mega-releases in sight to break its stranglehold on the discussion, but I’ve dipped my latex-gloved hand into the breeding pools and fished out a few promising curiosities.

Monday 24th June sees things kicking off with bone-throwing dungeon solitaire Dice & Fold. Tuesday 25th June sees the remake of 90s mystical point-and-clicker Riven – now with real-time 3D environments and shock – along with magical-realist high school visual novel Until Then and Argentinian folk horror Pomberito, in which a farmer must survive for five nights while investigating a local animal. Thursday 27th June sees some Orpheus DLC for RPG musical Stray Gods and the early access launch of 30-player last-person stand-’em-up game Battle Crush. On Friday, June 28th, there will be the early access release of the tornado hunting simulation OUTBRK, in which you monitor uncontrolled weather on a 625 square kilometer map.

Here at the RPS Treehouse, we’ll be spending much of the week feeding the Maw freshly hewn chunks of earthtree, but we’ll also be trying out an anime co-op shooter whose contents I won’t give away, digging up long-forgotten Aliens games, and maybe even finding time for a stylized retro FPS or two. The Maw would normally consider this spartan fare, but there’s so much molten Elden Ring DLC running through his cyclopean veins that we’ll probably get away with it. Even the Maw needs time to digest this.
