The Apple Watch has a hidden feature to enable Night Shift on the device, as a Reddit user recently discovered. If you ask Siri on the Apple Watch to turn on Night Shift, Siri will do so and the display will take on the darker, yellow hue that reduces blue light exposure.

It’s not clear since when ‌Siri‌ can enable ‌Night Shift‌ on Apple Watch, but it seems to have happened only recently. Apple has no documentation on ‌Night Shift‌ on Apple Watch, and it wasn’t previously a watchOS 10 option. It’s possible that ‌Night Shift‌ is tied to watchOS 11, but it’s not limited to devices running ‌watchOS 11‌. We were able to use the feature on an Apple Watch Series 9 with ‌watchOS 10‌ installed.

Enabling Night Shift is only possible through Siri. There is no switch in the Apple Watch Settings app or anywhere else on the device. Siri mentions the ability to schedule Night Shift in the Settings app, but that is not currently an option in watchOS 10 or watchOS 11.

Night Shift doesn’t seem to be available on all Apple Watch models; Reddit users are unable to enable it on Series 5 and below.

The ability to suddenly turn on Night Shift without a corresponding setting suggests that this is a feature that was introduced by mistake and that the toggle could be introduced in a future version of watchOS 11 or an upcoming update of watchOS 10.
