Poco F6 Pro vs. Poco X6 Pro: Comparison of the mid-range devices

Poco has just announced two new flagship smartphones, the F6 and F6 Pro, and according to the brand, the latter “fills the gap in high-end performance phones.”

How does the Poco F6 Pro compare to the Poco X6 Pro, which was launched in January 2024? We haven’t tested the Poco F6 Pro, but we have tested the Poco X6 Pro and gave the smartphone a near-perfect 4.5-star rating.

We compared the specs of the two mid-range phones and highlighted the key differences between them below.

The F6 Pro features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

The two handsets run on different chipsets, with the Poco X6 Pro running on MediaTek’s Dimensity 8300-Ultra and the F6 Pro running on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Of the two processors, the Dimensity 8300-Ultra is newer, having launched in November 2023, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 launched back in November 2022, but the latter is actually the more powerful of the two. In fact, it was the chipset of choice for top-end smartphones throughout 2023 until the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 came along.

Still, we found that using the Dimensity 8300-Ultra made the X6 Pro “a joy to use in everyday life and even during demanding multitasking.” Our graphics benchmark results also showed that the X6 Pro easily came out on top when compared to similarly priced rivals.

While we haven’t tested the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor specifically with the F6 Pro, when testing similar 2023 flagship smartphones that used the chipset, such as the OnePlus 11, we found that performance was fast and there were “no signs of stuttering or lag” even under heavy use.

The X6 Pro has a larger 64MP main camera

Both the F6 Pro and X6 Pro feature three cameras on the back and a 16MP front-facing camera. Of the trio on the back, both handsets feature an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP macro lens with f/2.4 aperture, but they differ in their main lens offering.

While the F6 Pro has a 50 MP main lens with first-class object image stabilization (OIS), the X6 Pro has a 64 MP main lens without OIS support.

Since we haven’t tested the F6 Pro’s snapshot capability ourselves, we can’t say whether the F6 Pro’s lens, with fewer megapixels and OIS support, is better than the X6 Pro’s. However, in our review of the X6 Pro, we found that “the main camera… is very decent. There’s a lot of detail, the colors look realistic, and the HDR effect is more natural than some other devices.”

Our reviewer also noted that the X6 Pro’s main camera “features the familiar and unimpressive 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro combo,” which “isn’t quite up to the standard of the other cameras and should be avoided for the most part.” With that in mind, we’d have reason to believe this is similar to the F6 Pro.

The F6 Pro features 120W HyperCharge

Both the F6 Pro and X6 Pro have a battery capacity of 5000mAh, which is pretty standard for smartphones these days. We were impressed with the X6 Pro’s 67W turbo charging, which got us from 1 to 100% in just 45 minutes.

The F6 Pro should reduce this charging time even further thanks to the inclusion of the really fast 120W HyperCharge feature. Poco promises that the device will charge to 100% in just 19 minutes.

The F6 Pro reaches a peak brightness of 4000 nits

The F6 Pro’s display promises to impress, thanks to its “industry-leading” edge-to-edge glass deco design and 120Hz Flow AMOLED Dot display, which is said to offer higher light efficiency with low power consumption even at WQHD+ resolution. The F6 Pro is also capable of a massive peak brightness of 4000 nits, which Poco says should give users a “fully immersive visual experience.”

The X6 Pro also features a remarkable display, which our reviewer described as “nothing short of impressive.” While the handset features an impressive CrystalRes 1.5K Flow AMOLED Dot Display panel for rich colors, its brightness is lower compared to the F6 Pro, peaking at 1800 nits.

However, it should be noted that 1800 nits is still impressive and means the phone can be used even in direct sunlight.

The X6 Pro is cheaper

As an older model, the X6 Pro naturally has a cheaper RRP of £369/€349.90. The F6 Pro is a little more expensive, starting at £499/€579.
