A mother of seven who was told she was in remission has been given the terrible news that her cancer is incurable and she may only have a few months to live. Kimberley Deane has already endured an unimaginable journey after being diagnosed with stage three cervical cancer a few years ago, which has now spread to her pelvis.
The 37-year-old mother from St Austell underwent daily chemotherapy and radiotherapy for three months, during which she even said goodbye to her children because she wasn’t sure if she would make it.
Kimberley had to undergo further treatment at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, where she underwent brachytherapy surgery, which meant she had to lie down for five days and had 2ft long metal rods inserted into her cervix to deliver high doses of radiation.

The treatment was extremely painful as the rods pressed on her spine from the inside of her body. But after the pain and trauma, there was a glimmer of hope for Kimberley, she was told her cancer was in remission – only to have her hopes dashed again.
Shannon Davy, Kimberley’s sister-in-law, said the brave mother was kept in the dark for several months as to whether the cancer had actually started to shrink or not before she was told it was there and had spread.

Shannon said: “Kimberley now has stage 4 cervical cancer which has spread to her lungs and bowel lining. She was told she had about two years to live, but was recently told her cancer had now spread more widely to her lungs and now to the lymph nodes near her heart.
She said her beloved sister-in-law had been waiting to be treated at the Royal Cornwall Hospital and when she got an appointment with her specialist, she was told her cancer had worsened and had spread more to her lungs and lymph nodes near and around her heart. Shannon said: ‘She was completely heartbroken.
“Kimberley and her children feel completely devastated. That’s why we’ve asked for donations and hope we can find more answers. And if we don’t find answers, then Kimberley and her children deserve the last unforgettable bus ride from she dreams.”
Kimberley’s family has now started a GoFundMe fundraiser to give her and her children – ages 16, 10, 8, 7, 5 and twins, age 4 – the best possible time together.

Shannon added: “She has five amazing boys and two beautiful twin girls who love their mum and cry every night. The little ones tell her that they are going to invent a shrinking machine that will go into her stomach and tell the cheeky bug to leave mommy alone and do it. “Please don’t kill their mommy.”
“Listening to the hope in their voices is absolutely heartbreaking. We hope we can raise funds to get a second opinion and carry out any treatment that may be necessary to give this amazing mother a chance and, above all, more time.”
“If we can’t do that, Kimberley’s dream has always been to buy a bus and travel with her children. They have never traveled anywhere and she doesn’t even have a passport. We would love to give her and her children the memories they could.” Never forget how much time she has left.
