EA’s new Battlefield announcement was met with major backlash

During an earnings conference call for Electronic Arts, CEO Andrew Wilson announced the news Battlefield The entry will be “another great live service” – and players have let out a collective groan on social media.

With a live service, new content is released regularly after launch, with premium content usually only accessible through a higher subscription tier or payment to keep players playing for as long as possible.

The Battlefield The franchise was huge in the late 2000s and early 2010s Battlefield Bad Company Entries and the third and fourth numbered publications.

It seems fans have been demanding that the series’ games be returned to the way they were when they seemingly reached their peak – but they were apparently disappointed by the latest announcement.

Wilson is reported by Insider Gamingwith the words: “This is the greatest thing.” Battlefield team in franchise history.

“I visited the teams a few weeks ago and I couldn’t be more excited about what they showed and what we were able to play.”

“I just spent a fair amount of time with the collective Battlefield “The team is playing what they are building and it will be another great live service.”

While a live service is fairly common in modern multiplayer games, this doesn’t seem to be the case Battlefield The community is excited about this given what happened Battlefield 2042.

Geoff Keighley, with 1.5 million followers on X/Twitter, shared the news on the social media platform and the responses were mostly negative.

Battlefield is EA’s competitor call of Duty Franchise – it is a multiplayer first-person shooter from developer Dice in which players improve their rank, weapons and battle pass to get better rewards.

call of Duty has more of an arcade feel Battlefield feels more realistic but also has its own high-octane stunts.

Battlefield 2042 was released in 2021 and is the latest installment, although EA confirmed in March of this year that no new seasons would be released as Season 7 came into effect, so it appears all efforts could be put into developing a new entry.

It had a pretty difficult life – there were a number of bugs and glitches at launch, including the game being unplayable at all, which EA eventually fixed in the following months.

call of Duty Typically, players are given a month or two before releasing new content over the course of seasons – but Dice took seven months to release the first season Battlefield 2042 while these issues were resolved.

There have been a number of gameplay improvements, but after such a difficult launch it seems to have lost a lot of players and support – some players on social media say there haven’t been any good improvements Battlefield Playing since then Battlefield 1 published in 2016 (Battlefield 5 And Battlefield 2042 have since published).
